I chose to purchase these speakers based mainly on the many reviews I read and the price range. I had looked at speakers and read reviews until I was blue in the face and it was a tough decision. I only wanted a 2-piece system--not 3. I listen to a lot of music on the computer.
The speakers arrived promptly, in perfect condition and were a snap to connect to my laptop. If it's easy for me, anybody can do it! I'm very happy with them so far, and even though the sound could be a little "crisper", they really put out (including bass) compared to the wimply laptop speaker. I've never turned the volume past the half way mark, which is loud enough for me.

I bought the Logitech Speaker System Z520 to replace the little speakers that came with our computer seven years. These compact, stylish Logitech speakers looked like a good choice for my desk, but they never made it there... My husband opened the box, put them right on the living room bookshelf, and plugged in his iPod!
Set up was so easy, it seems like a stretch to call it "set up." You just plug the speakers into an outlet, plug the iPod into the speakers, and abracadabra, out comes great music! I'm certainly no audiophile (frankly, I probably wouldn't know speakers were bad unless they were crackling), but my husband and I both think these sound wonderful. They fill the living room with music, thanks to the 360-degree sound technology, and they're stylish but unobtrusive. So I think they're gonna stay put, and I'm in the market again for computer speakers. Maybe a second set of Logitechs!

Obviously expecting to get audiophile quality out of any of these little speakers is like well
trying to get gold from lead :) Just not possible with current technology. So, it a matter of
finding something you can live with. After trying out a few of these speakers these are certainly
one of the best sounding ones.
There are pretty well balanced and sound good with a variety of material especially movies.
1. You need to break them in, as with most speakers, to get the best sound. Don't judge them
until after you've broken them in for a few days.
2. If you play them loud they will distort. At moderately high volume there do well but they
can't get really loud.
3. Of course without a subwoofer you won't them that thumping bass so don't even try.
4. These speakers are really great for movies. The EQ curve of movies and the reaf firing
tweeters make these speakers perfect for movies as long as you can live without the BIG bass sound.
Overall, they are pretty good though. If you want a lot of bass get the Z523 instead.

I'm a huge fan of Logitech, and they've succeeded yet again in making another phenomenal product.
