AWESOME sound with Windows 7 64-bit support, GRAPHIC EQUALIZER, & Audigy mastering software! July 23, 2010 China Dreamer (Chicago, IL USA) This sound card seems to beat the integrated SigmaTel on my Sony desktop PC. I installed Windows 7 64-bit on a 2nd hard drive on my PC and there is no SigmaTel driver that would work in the 64-bit environment. This sound card DOES have 64-bit and 32-bit support for all Windows versions from XP forward, on Diamondmm.com technical support web page for this model (as well as other similar models).
Simply download all the most updated version of the drivers for your PC. Also you may download the latest user manual (in PDF), as well as Audigy driver and software, which really makes this card a great buy.
Disregard all the complaints about lack of drivers for newer Windows versions. Diamondmm.com has updated them all.
(A note about Windows 7's suggested C-Media driver: it involves downloading a zipped file and unzipping it. On my PC, it only supports the card WITHOUT the rear/side speakers. Needless to say, it does not allow GRAPHIC EQUALIZER setup or anything else for that matter. Howver, after setting the sound up with the driver provided by the manufacturer indicated above (via the Diamond icon on the taskbar), I now have all speakers working!
(I also set up Hauppauge WinTV USB HVR950 with their latest driver for Windows 7, and then set up digital TV with Windows Media Center. All my speakers working. Watching HD TV with Windows Media Center is pure delight. With Windows Media Center, you can RECORD the HD TV programs, and then watch the programs again and/or convert them to a DVD. No TV in the market allows you to do that.)
In conclusion, buy this Diamond sound card with confidence. The Audigy software AND the GRAPHIC EQUALIZER are BIG BONUSES (usually available with only more expensve sound card, if available at all).
I really like this amazing product. I hope you will also.
its ok, windows 7 support took too long July 10, 2010 okdude (new england, usa) it wouldn't work for several months so didn't even bother with it. there was no support at all for windows 7 x64 on it's install disk or online. they finally created a driver in the end of may, and it installed fine. the sound quality is pretty good. it is a little prone to picking up noise, but for it's price is understandable.
Does not work with windows 7 64 bit May 29, 2010 Rose M. Gatto (Bradenton, Fl USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Service and support is poor at Diamond. The software CD would not install as windows 7 rejected it. I finally called support and they gave me a file that was suppose to correct the problem - which it did not. I tried manually to install it and it just would not work. I asked for a updated CD and no reply. Obviously this is dead end card in their product line.
I brought my pc to a local computer shop and they could not get it updated properly either.
I only bought the card because I thought I fried my motherboard audio system but it turned out to be just a driver update so I have sound now.
I would not recommend this company to anyone who has windows 7 in their system. You can't relay on having your emails (you have to submit a ticket) to get support. I still have one open for over a month. If I ever have to buy a sound card I will be buying creative next time.
Sound Investment May 25, 2010 Barry D. Berry (VISTA, CA United States) The Diamond XtremeSound 7.1 Sound Card is very impressive for the price. Easy installation and booming clear sound are what you would expect from a more expensive card. The many options for the Front and Rear speakers make it easy to get invigorating acoustic stimulation from your PC!
Great sound card for the price. April 16, 2010 Ryan Montgomery Only reason I gave it four stars for ease of installation is because I had to go to Diamond's site to download the Windows 7 drivers. Other than that, the card performs as expected. Very nice being able to use both the digital and analog outputs at the same time. I used this card to replace on-board audio that went out on me. Very affordable and worth what I paid for it. Installed audio utility is very nice also allowing some customization for speaker placement, etc.
